Back end sales are sales that come after the main sale has taken place. They are often referred to as ‘One Time Offers’ I’m sure you will have seen offers like this before.

 

These offers appear after a main sale, when, once you’ve placed your order, you’re taken to another page that offers you an upgrade to your product or a companion product for an additional price.

 

Once someone has already bought the main product, the chances of their purchasing the second offer, are much higher, which is why so many marketers use this tactic. It’s wonderful for increasing profits.

What are back end sales, and why are they important to your
business? Back end sales are sales that come after the main
sale has taken place. They are often referred to as ‘One
Time Offers’ I’m sure you will have seen offers like this
before.

These offers appear after a main sale, when, once you’ve
placed your order, you’re taken to another page that offers
you an upgrade to your product or a companion product for an
additional price.

Once someone has already bought the main product, the
chances of their purchasing the second offer, are much
higher, which is why so many marketers use this tactic.
It’s wonderful for increasing profits.

Offline businesses do this too, in the form of offering
things like extended warranties or service agreements at
the register. Chances are, the purchaser does not actually
need these things, but the sales people push them, because
it makes extra money for the store, for very little effort.

Most stores rarely ever have to honor a service agreement,
because people lose them or forget about them, so it’s a
very cheap way for them to increase their profits with very
little effort. Most people will buy a service agreement if
asked to, at the point of purchase.

Back end sales can also be ongoing sales. A good way is to
offer an extra feature to your product, such as a monthly
membership or coaching program, that will require monthly
payments.

Offline businesses use this in the form of credit protection
agreements on credit cards. You pay a small extra fee on
your card each month to ensure protection of it, should you
ever be in the position of not being able to pay your bill.
Again, the chances of you using it are small, but the profit
potential for the company is very large.

So, as you can see, back end sales are good marketing
tactics for both online and offline businesses. They are
simple and easy ways to increase profits and a snap to
implement. If you want to take your business a step higher,
implement them into your overall company strategy and enjoy
the rewards.

There was a Scottish painter named Smokey MacGregor who was
very interested in making a penny where he could, so he
often thinned down his paint to make it go a wee bit further.

As it happened, he got away with this for a long time, but
eventually the Baptist Church decided to do a big
restoration job on the outside of one of their biggest
buildings.

Smokey put in a bid and because his price was so low, he got
the job.

So he set about erecting the scaffolding and setting up
planks and buying the paint and yes, thinning it down.

Well, Smokey was up on the scaffolding, painting away, the
job nearly completed when suddenly there was a horrendous
clap of thunder, the sky opened and the rain poured down,
washing the thinned pain from all over the church.

Smokey was knocked clear off the scaffold to land on the lawn
among the gravestones, surrounded by the telltale puddles of
the thinned and useless paint.

Smokey was no fool – he knew this was a judgment from the
Almighty.

He got down on his knees and cried: "Oh God, oh God, forgive
me! What should I do?"

From the thunder a might voice spoke: "Repaint! Repaint!
And thin no more!"
