Why Do I Need To Learn How To Be a Good Copywriter?

Copywriting is one skill that all Internet marketers need to have, even those that outsource all their products’ sales pages. Why? Because there are a lot more places to use copywriting skills than a product’s sales page. Three examples that come to mind are emails, blog posts, and JV partner requests.

Emails: Copywriting comes in handy with your email for several reasons. You want your emails to strike a chord with your readers so they will read them. If you have a habit of sending boring emails, people won’t read them and will probably unsubscribe from your list.

You also need to capture their attention when they look at their inbox and see 25 unopened emails. Naturally you want yours opened. Writing a compelling email subject line is similar to writing a compelling sales page headline.

Think about the subject of your email. You had a purpose in sending it – whether it be to sell an affiliate product or get them to visit and comment on your blog, so you need to have a strong call to action, just like with a sales page.

Blog Posts: Similar to emails, you have a reason why you’re posting content on your blog. Good copywriting skills are so important here because every time you post, you are selling something… yourself, your product, someone else’s product, your coaching program, your brand, your expertise, and more. Blog readers like your story from failure to success and are interested in how much money you made (or how much weight you lost) when using a new product.

When you weave a good blog post, your copywriting is more subtle. Obviously you wouldn’t have a big screaming red headline on your blog post and several BUY NOW buttons, but you are going to give the bulleted benefits and appropriate links. You can consider your post a pre-sell if you want, but it requires copywriting skill all the same.

JV Partner Request: Just as you would capture the reader’s attention with compelling copy, you need to capture the potential JV partner’s attention. They need to know what’s in it for them, as well as what’s in it for their readers or subscribers. You’re not doing a full out sales letter, but you are selling yourself and the potential partnership. You are illustrating the benefits, and we know benefits are important for conversions.

Here you have 3 big reasons why Internet marketers should learn how to write good copy. Being a marketer means selling and there are many more opportunities to sell than just with your product’s sales page.
