How Do I Do That?
That’s a question we all probably ask a 100 times a day….I do anyway:) It’s also one that I get ‘asked’ several times a day too.
The questions we ask or get asked, really depend on the time we have been online and what we’ve learned IN that time.
After working online for nearly 9 years, I do things without even thinking about it….so when I get asked simple questions like "how do I copy and paste?"...I sometimes get a little bewildered.
Then I think back to when I purchased my first PC, for my daughter. It was a second hand one, a DX33 or something like that. Anyway I had absolutely NO idea what to do…in fact I had to pay the 12 year old kid I bought it from, $50 just to show me the basics. At that point I had never even used a mouse before.
The thing is, thousands of people are coming on line each day, for all different reasons and some of them are like I was 18 years ago….and have absolutely NO idea what to do.
In fact, I had a guy pay me $1000 last year to join of my main business opportunities. He was from Canada….a roof installation salesman who was making a 6 Figure income. Being in Canada and the nature of his work, he could only work about 6 months of the year. He spent the other six months travelling.
He had heard about the ‘fortunes’ being made online and decided to pass up on his travelling this particular year and try his luck online.
I thought GREAT…this guy’s a salesman, he’s going to be great at this and will make me a TON of second tier commissions.
But, would you believe he didn’t even know how Copy and Paste? He didn’t even know how to open up Internet Explorer! He was basically at the level I was, years ago.
I had just taken a $1000 of this guy, so I couldn’t just leave him to work things out for himself, I had to help him. I spent a lot of time on the phone teaching him the basic "How To’s". Trust me, trying to explain to someone how to left click and drag a mouse over some text…then right click on it…then open notepad…right click ..paste etc, is not a simple thing to do over the phone …especially when that person has NO idea what you’re talking about.
Nowday’s thanks to Web2.0 and Videos, we can show people in minutes, what used to take hours. I don’t know about you, but if I’m looking on Google to find out how to do something, I always try to find the Video Tutorials.
So…what I have done is create a "How To Video" Page on my Blog with very short "How To" Videos.
The first one is very basic and shows how to create a GMAIL account. I thought I’d start here as email is an essential part of marketing online.
Over the coming weeks I will be adding more videos with a wide range of Topics suited for Newbies and the Pro’s.
