Free Link Building Strategies for Higher Search Engine Rankings

Link building is a task that marketers often struggle with. However, it’s easier than you’d think to build a network of backlinks to your website or blog, and even better, it’s free! By using resources like article directories, blogger, Squidoo and more, you can set up an entire network of niche sites, all linking to one another. This helps you to build page rank quickly and easily, and it’s not necessary to spend any money to do so.

First, write a series of articles and submit them to a variety of article directories. Each article contains one or more backlinks in the resource box, and the more you submit, the more traffic you’ll be able to get for your keywords. Choosing long tail keywords to base your articles around makes this process even more profitable.

Next, rewrite a few of the articles you submitted, and set up a free blog at blogger.com. Fill this up with rewritten content (no new research required) – five articles or so is good to start. Then use anchor text links to link to your main website. You can also include graphics, advertisements, etc., but your main goal is to link back to your website.

Set up a similar blog at WordPress.org, again using rewritten content. WordPress.org blogs cannot contain advertisements, but they are a high quality source for backlinks. Be sure to use relevant anchor keywords when linking back to your site. Link to your blogger blog from this site.

Now, set up one or more Squidoo lenses about your niche topic. You’re quickly becoming an expert in your niche! Link to your main site, your wordpress.org blog, and your blogger blog from your Squidoo lens. Link to your Squidoo lens from each of these sites, as well. See how you’re developing your own personal niche network? With some SEO skills, you may be able to achieve multiple first page listings – for your articles, sites, and Squidoo lenses – all linking back to your main site.

You can also add other free sites to this process, such as Hubpages, Associated Content, and eHow. Include links to your sites anywhere possible. Remember, your goal is to build a stand alone content network.

These sites will all increase the page rank of your main site, and make it worth more money if you ever decide you’d like to sell it. Even better, you can flip the whole network for even more cash! Put this free link building formula to work for you, and you’ll be well on your way to increasing your backlinks, traffic, and affiliate income.

    Nice article on creating backlinks.

I have been using Squidoo for several years now for building backlinks and also for straightup affiliate promotions. Squidoo lenses do usually rank well in Google.
