Free Consultations Can Be Effective Selling Tools

Free Consultations Can Be Effective Selling Tools

Have you ever given away free consultations to prospects? If you have, how successful were you at converting that prospect into a customer?

A person will buy a service when they want a specific result or a solution to a problem they are facing.

Giving away free consultations can be a powerful sales strategy and will increase your visibility online but…

Think very carefully about this. If you solve a prospect’s problem in a freebie session, what could you then offer them that they would be willing to pay for?

You just GAVE them the solution they were looking for!

The free consultation is part of your sales process. Yes, you need to focus on understanding what problems the prospect needs help with, but don’t GIVE them all the specifics.

A far better tactic would be to demonstrate your expertise and knowledge so that they feel confident you can offer them a satisfactory solution. Explain how you can help with their problem, without giving away the store.

Hey, Michael Ottman here. I am so glad you wrote this post. I am also one of Alex’s students and have missed the boat so to speak getting on peoples blogrolls.

I have been learning as much as I can and like your article about giving free consultations. This has been my strategy for the past couple of weeks.

My strength is graphics and I even posted to my blog about you here.

Thanks for the amount of writing you do, your words of encouragement have helped me greatly.

I’ll be keeping an eye on your blog,

    Hi Michael,

Glad that you liked the article:)

You say that your strength is “graphic” and that you’ve been planning on giving free consultations to people on this subject?

Well you did exactly that with the graphic on my website and it was excellent…thank you:)

If you design graphics yourself, you should add a link in a prominent position on your blog. I had a look but couldn’t find one. Graphic design is big business….if it were me I would have a link to my portfolio at the top of my blog and at the end of each of each consultation posting I wrote.

Michael, I have added you to my “Students Of Alex Jeffreys” blogroll and I would appreciate it if you would add me to yours.

    Bill:)
