Destiny vs fate
The debate of wether we our lives are somehow pre-destined or if there is no ryme and reason and all is left to luck - good or bad- fate.
In Sophocles trilogy of Oedipus this question is posed.
If Creon can avoid the destiny the Pheonix has forwarned him off, that his son will kill him and marry his mother (Creons Wife the Queen) in an attempt to avoid this destiny Creon orders his son upon birth to be taken out and killed. The servant in charge of this however has pity on the infant and brings him to his village where a family raises Oedipus as there own. On the road to Damascus Oedipus comes across his true fathers caravan and slaughters his father then rides onto Damascus and weds the queen.
In attempting to avoid his destiny Creon creates it, or maybe there was no avoidance possible it was destined.
I think that destiny is like a tree and you are given at birth certain attributes that allow you the strength to overcome the difficulties that you face in life.
But hte decision you make lead to different paths to the same outcome, and only you can get there with the equipment you have been gifted.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comments.

I totally agree with you that we should try to find work that involves doing something we like, even though it's not always possible.

Yes, life is too short, so we should make the most of it while we can.

Take Care Robert

Hi Captain Hall

Always nice to meet another student of Alex Jeffreys. Hope you enjoyed his course as much as I did? I still have to go over it a second time as I missed some of the modules.

Thanks for stopping by, I will make sure to get on over to your site very shortly

Take Care

Hi Bill,
Interesting discussion. So maybe God does know everything that's going to happen to us at the beginning of our lives. I believe that. But so what. We don't know it. So yes lets not be lazy. But lets live life to the fullest everyday.

We have to work obviously. So why not find what will make us happy while doing it. Lets evaluate our strengths and then go for it. Let make this an amazing life today, we may not have tomorrow.
Regards,
Rob

Bill,

Nice site you have here.

From one of Alex Jeffreys students to another, I believe spending a lot of time discussing Destiny vs. Fate is paralysis by analysis. Like Alex says let's fail forward to our success.

I hope your business is going well.

Tight lines.
