The Right Approach to Blog Commenting!

If you’re interested in commenting on blogs, as a way to gain traffic for your site, you have to have the right mindset. Far too many people start leaving comments blindly on DoFollow blogs, hoping that the backlinks will help. Their mistake is that they fail to leave high quality, memorable comments. Instead, they post generic comments like "click here for more information", hoping that the blog’s readers will click through to their site.

The correct approach to blog commenting, however, is to look it as a gradual process of building a brand. By leaving consistent, quality comments on a variety of blogs in your niche, you’re establishing yourself as an expert in your field. Slow and steady link building is far more effective than a quick blast, so add these links over time for the best results. Look at link building as a regular habit to get into – not a one time deal.

To begin with, take some time to plan out your brand. Pick an avatar or logo that represents your niche and what you’re trying to do. Use your real name or choose a believable pen name – avoid cutesy screen names or anonymous letter/number combinations. You want the blogs’ other readers to recognize you as a real person – someone that they can identify with.

Next, start reading blogs in your niche. Don’t just skim the latest post and attempt to comment. Instead, take time to really learn about the blogger and their mission. By immersing yourself in the niche in this manner, you’re setting yourself up for success. You’re establishing yourself as an expert in the niche, and you’re working at developing slow, gradual traffic.

A great tool to find blogs in your niche is ‘Comment Hut and you can download the LITE version for free.

Finally, focus on the quality of your comments. Your goal is to make an interesting point, expand on an idea, or contribute to the discussion. You won’t do this with one-liners such as "Nice post, thanks!". Instead, spend some time on each comment. Make them interesting and relevant to the discussion – your goal is to convince the other visitors to the blog that you have something interesting to say – something worth clicking over to your site to learn more about.

Remember, your goal isn’t to steal the existing blogs readers – it’s to get them to add your bog to their feedreader right beside it. By building a brand, learning about the niche, and focusing on comment quality, you’re well on your way.

How To Get Free Website Traffic

One thing to remember is that traffic building takes time. To many webmasters give up when they don’t see instant traffic. Some methods take longer than others, and patience is needed. The results in the long term however, are rewarding.

The first method to use when considering traffic for any website, should be search engine optimization. This is the way that the search engines find the site, and without it your site may as well not exist, as no-one will know it’s there.

There are many books, tutorials etc., available on SEO (search engine optimization) and many people think it’s complicated and time consuming. It can be if you wish to reach the #1 position on the search engines, through SEO alone. However, many sites survive and prosper very well, with more basic SEO, combined with other traffic obtaining methods.

You should be optimizing a site which has original, fresh, keyword rich content, which is updated and added to on a regular basis. This is what the search engines are looking for.

Adding articles a couple of times a week, and/or running a blog on the site, contributing to it, and possibly getting others to add their comments as well, either daily or every other day, are all good methods of keeping your site fresh and updated.

Writing articles for submission to lots of Article Directories and including links within the resource box, back to the home page and sometimes to other pages within your site, all generate backlinks which in time help to build visitors and backlinks, which the search engines like and help increase the ranking of the website.

Sites such as EzineArticles, HubPages and Squidoo etc., are all high ranking sites, so the backlinks from these are good for creating immediate direct traffic, as well as boosting your standing/ranking with search engines. Be sure to do your keyword research correctly for inclusion in your articles.

Another great and quick way to increase backlinks, is by using RSS software. This submits your site’s content quickly and easily to RSS Directories, again increasing backlinks considerably.

Social bookmarking may not directly do much to increase your site’s SEO, but these sites are spidered extremely regularly by the search engines. Having your site linked to them means that the search engines follow that link back to your website, and your site can get indexed by the search engines very quickly, sometimes within 24 hours. Well worth doing.

Using these marketing strategies will ensure that your website begins to receive the lifeblood it needs to expand into a successful business. Of course there are many other traffic building techniques, both free and paid, which you can add into your marketing strategy, but these will build a good foundation for your success.

Bad Neighborhood: Should You Be a Part of It or Not?

Building links between your site and other sites and vice versa, is a natural process that occurs with any website or blog. Any site owner that is trying to provide more of a service for his readers, will begin to provide links to other sites, that could benefit those readers.

Likewise, if you provide valuable content on your website or blog, other sites will link to you. They will do this because they are trying to provide a service for their readers, by linking to your site, and they believe that linking to your site is a good way to provide more information for their readers.

This is why links from other sites to yours will help to increase your SEO. Each link from another site to your site is viewed by the search engines like a vote for your blog or website – usually.

Have you ever heard the saying, "You will be known by the company you keep?" If you spend all of your time around law breakers and hoodlums, you will be viewed as one of them. The same logic applies to websites.

If you have a lot of links from other sites pointing to yours, this is a good thing. It shows that you are well-respected by other site owners and that they consider your site worth linking to! You have no control over which sites point to yours. Anyone can choose to have a link on their site that points to your site. The search engines know this.

On the other hand, you have complete control over the people that you link to from your site. The search engines know this, as well.

If you are requested to place a link on your site to someone else’s, you need to consider this decision carefully. Outbound links can be disastrous for the SEO of your site.

If you have too many outbound links, this can decrease your SEO. Having too many outbound links can raise a red flag with search engines, because they may think that your site is too "spammy." A good rule of thumb is to only have two or three links per blog post – if that many.

Make sure you do not have one page that is nothing but links to different sites. This can be viewed by search engines as a link farm and can be heavily penalized or de-indexed.

Another mistake that you can make is to link to a bad site. This can be a site that the search engines consider to have a spam domain. It can also be a site that is a link farm.

Before deciding whether or not to link to another site, you need to
check and make sure that the site has not been de-indexed. Simply type in "site: siteX.com" and check to see if the site is indexed. If it is not, do not link to it.

What is most important to your website?

Some people will try to tell you that your sales letter is the most important, others the graphics and appearance of your site. You can have the most brilliant website ever, but it will be as if it doesn’t exist, without…..

Traffic…the lifeblood of your business.

If you were going to open a physical bricks and mortar shop, no matter what it was selling, you would want your shop in a place where there were plenty of passing feet. The people walking past the door of your shop are your potential customers. You need to take into consideration the amount of passing traffic, along with, whether your product is something that your traffic would want. No point opening a butchers shop on the busy main street of a neighborhood full of vegetarians!

The same is true of a website. I’m sure you have seen all the hype about about choosing the right niche, or finding out what people want and then supply it to them. In other words if people are looking for what you are promoting, there is potential traffic for your site.

Then you need to choose the neighborhood for your website. In other words promote your site in a way, and in places where your product is most looked for – that produces targeted traffic.

Again, some people will tell you that it is a pure numbers game, get as many people as possible to view your site, and hope for some to be interested and take action. But in fact, the response rate from that sort of traffic is low. With purely mass bulk traffic, you may only get one or two responses/sales per thousand views/visits.

With targeted traffic, however, putting your site in front of people already interested in the subject, the response rate rises considerably. This means that you should get a much better end result from less traffic. If you are buying traffic, the targeted traffic approach is the best way to go. Buy less traffic, which is more likely to be interested in your product, and get a better response for less cost.

Even when using free methods to build traffic, look for ways to target your website to people who may be more interested in your niche/product. For example, write articles on different aspects of your business, thereby getting readers who are interested in the subject already.

Join forums which are geared toward your subject, and use your signature file, if allowed, to get your website noticed. There are loads of other ways and I’m sure you get the idea. Just be sure to follow the rules of the various places you are using.

The subject of getting traffic is vast, the ways are numerous and varied. There’s no right or wrong way, just those thar are either successful for your site, or not. What is right for one site, may not work for another, but it doesn’t mean that any method is wrong or ‘dead’, only that it doesn’t work for you.

The only rule for traffic is to get as much good traffic as possible, but always within your budget. The best traffic system does not cost too much, and does not take all your time. If you can find a system which once set up, continues to work without too much of your time, that is ideal. Paid or free, both work. Find what works for you and your business, and keep it building.

A Look At Article Marketing

Article marketing has been around for some time. It has not changed drastically over time, although there have been many attempted changes, some successful and some not.

One particular attempt was the introduction of software to automate the submission process of articles. Although it quickened up the submission process, most top Article Directories, etc., correctly realized that this would eventually make article marketing a thing of the past, and now block and reject articles submitted that way.

Software has also appeared to help with the writing of articles. While some of these can be helpful to a degree, writing skill is still required of the author.

Of course, not everyone is a great writer, with or without software assistance. If you feel you really cannot write your own articles, it is perfectly acceptable to hire a good ghostwriter. No one will know that you did not write the articles yourself, and you end up with articles that do what you wanted of them.

Hiring a ghostwriter need not be too expensive. Prospective writers are usually hired to write several articles to begin with, to see how they do, and if their work is liked, people tend to stay with the same writer long-term.

Due to the sale of article directory scripts, numerous new article repositories have opened in the last few years. Owning and running an Article Directory can be lucrative. People visit your site to submit their articles, and while they are their, they are exposed to the other items on the site, adsense and other ads etc. Also since they have registered on your site, you are able to send them emails.

The owner of the Directory can monetize the site in various ways, for example as already mentioned, with Adsense ads on each of the article pages, banners etc. This does not affect the article writer in any way, but can make the site owner an additional income.

In order to do this however, the site must be promoted to attract both writers and people looking for articles. For the writer, submitting articles to new sites may not be greatly beneficial in the early days of the site, but once it has become popular, the writers will benefit.

Most of the best Directories still manually screen and check the articles submitted to their sites. There are still people who will try to submit articles which are little more than sales letters. Most sites will remove these types of articles when found.

Likewise, occasionally someone may try to submit copied articles. They have taken someone else’s article, and replaced the original author’s details with their own. Once the legal ramifications are pointed out to the ‘new author’ the article is usually withdrawn.

No matter what new concepts, software, etc., come into being, one element of article marketing remains constant. Successful article marketers need to submit articles which help, educate, and inform their reader. In that way, they will always be successful at article marketing

Anyway, here is my recommendation, stop what ever you are doing and go watch this video now, get your FREE SEO tool and think about what this could do for your website’s!

There are so many ways to make money online. And the list of online money making methods continues to grow. One of the newest and fastest growing ways to profit on the Internet, is video marketing.

The more popular video sharing web sites, like YouTube, get millions of visitors an hour. And you can take advantage of this stream of steady free traffic. But exactly how do you go about making money at YouTube?

The first thing you need to do is a get a feel for what video marketing is all about. How do you do this? It’s simple. Go to YouTube and look for videos created by marketing people, who are using videos as promotional tools. You’ll notice that people are using YouTube to market all kinds of goods and services.

Now take a look at the kinds of videos other video marketers are making. You will probably see a lot of how to and tutorial videos, along with demonstrations of how different products, systems or techniques work. Look at the view counts for these videos. Which ones are the most popular? Read the comments at the end of the videos. Which ones got the most positive feedback from those who visited the page?

Doing this kind of simple research should give you an idea of what video marketing is all about, as well as what goes into making a popular video. In fact, you will find that the most popular videos in certain niches, all have things in common.

They might be about the same length, or use images or illustrations in a similar way. Or maybe they will use similar background music…or no music at all. Whatever the case, while doing your research, make a list of these common elements. Later, you will try to incorporate as many of those elements as possible into your own video.

Once you have a feel for video marketing, it’s time to think about making your video. Take a look at the product you intend to promote. What kind of video could you make related to that product? Is it something exciting or interesting enough, that just showing it in action would be enough? Or should you try to draw in viewers by offering them useful information, using a tutorial to teach them how to do something?

If you haven’t created a product to promote yet (or haven’t chosen an affiliate product to promote), you can get plenty of profitable ideas from YouTube. Go to the site and find out which keywords are being searched for most. Is a keyword related to dogs or dog training at the top of the list? Then you know that a video about dogs or dog training, one that promotes a product in that niche, will have the potential to get a lot of views. Meaning a lot of potential buyers for your product.

Once you’ve got a product to promote, and some idea of what makes certain YouTube videos popular, it’s time to create your video, and start reaping the rewards YouTube marketing has to offer.
