Which Type Of Blogger Are You?

Despite the number of blogs out there on the internet, they can basically be broken down into two types, the ones who blog purely for the fun of it, and those who want to make money from it.

Of course, both of these have their merits, but neither need be exclusive. Those running a blog purely for the fun of it could still earn some money if they wanted to. And those wishing to run a money making blog should not forget that their readership would still appreciate good content in the process.

Good bloggers, whether interested in making money or not, should have a passion to write about their chosen topic. They will provide good relevant information and benefits to their readers in an interesting, and engaging manner. They may even choose a unique angle from which to approach their subject. Their readers are invited to comment by either a straight request for their opinion, or ending on a note which invites replies.

The advertising they use, and any recommendations made, are carefully chosen to be relevant to the subject matter of their blog, and provide benefits for their audience.

Good bloggers tend to have a high audience retention and return rate, which in turn equates to long term success.

Bad bloggers, on the other hand, have their minds set purely on profit and how to get their readers to click on the many and varied ads and affiliate links predominating on the blog. Blogs smothered in advertising tend to lose visitors very quickly. Visitors are quickly put off by the sales pressure and are unlikely to return, even if there is a smattering of good content hidden between the adverts.

It has been proved by studies that people evaluate the creditably of a website within the first 8 seconds, and if all they see in that time is a barage of adverts, they perceive the website as a sales pitch, and react accordingly.

If however, the advertising is blended with the content of the site, readers are more likely to spend more time on the site, and even click on an ad because it is not perceived as the main object of the site.

So, whether blogging for fun or monetary gain, can both be rewarding experiences, when tackled correctly.
